Greg Hanford started his career with a degree in Computer Science working for IBM. Always a keen guitarist, as a hobby he spent much of his youth perfecting his skills and playing in bands. Quite quickly, discovering he valued the company of people much more than computers, he perused careers in sales and recruitment before moving to South Korea to teach English in to children in international schools.
Still passionate about creating music, Greg enjoyed residency playing in many Korean establishments and even embarked on a tour of Japan with his own unique style of music. It was one day, sat at the foot of a water fountain playing to the crowds, that he watched a baby no older than 6 months old respond to his playing. Curious, Greg started to research how music could be used with therapeutic value and discovered Music Therapy.
Returning to the UK, Greg studied Music Therapy MSc at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, once qualifying moving to the North West and founded Vibe Music Therapy in 2016.
Most recently he has been combining his original Computer Science degree with his current field, working with University of Liverpool and NHS developing facial analysis software to allow for empirical outcomes in Music Therapy.
It is Greg’s passion in life to ensure Music Therapy is accessible and affordable to everyone regardless of age, gender, pathology, or government jurisdiction.
