ASD and Music Therapy
Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
The history of modern music therapy stems from a special education pioneer, Dr Clive Robbins and a American composer, Dr Paul Nordoff. Nordoff and Robbins visited many special education settings across Europe and North America creating a format of music therapy that is widely adopted in the present day. Children living with autism were the focus of their research and since then there have been a wealth of studies to uncover the benefits of music therapy with this client group.
